empty space consists of 8 sections with texts for interpretation (and a short preparatory text). There is also a score instruction and a material example. The most important of these are the texts that communicate certain imaginations. As a visual analogy to this piece one can study the painting 'Orchids, Bamboo and Rock' of Zheng Xie which was important to me during the composition process.

empty space is intended as an improvisatory piece, that is to say all of its indications should be reinterpreted during each performance, rather than fixed during rehearsals.

empty space is the first part in cycle IV from the work “synthetic fragments” consisting of 5 structured improvisations for different instrument combinations.
